Japan's first commercial nuclear power reactor. A British-designed Magnox gas-cooled reactor imported from the UK (GEC), it launched Japan's commercial nuclear program. Permanently shut down 1998-03-31 and is undergoing Japan's first commercial reactor decommissioning.
